Academic entrepreneurial engagement with weak institutional support: roles of motivation, intention and perceptions

The paper investigates the potential impact of entrepreneurial motivation, intention and academic researchers’ perceptions departmental university support on engagement in context weak or missing institutional support. A conceptual model linking to is developed tested primary data collected from researchers Nigeria. We find that while motivation strongly influences intentions researchers, link between weaker. Perceptions orientation positively mediate a significant proportion latter link. In contrast, about university’s supportive framework facilities play relatively weaker role. Subsequently, implications these findings policies incentives for academics universities settings are explored.
